Family Selection and Support
Recruits, screens, interviews and recommends applicants to the board of directors for approval as prospective homeowners. Provides Habitat homeowners and prospective homeowners with a mutual support system, educational opportunities and a forum for discussions pertaining to homeownership and maintenance; all for the purpose of helping families to break the poverty cycle and become independent.
Fundraising & Public Relations
Coordinates the raising of funds needed to conduct the business of the affiliate. Tasks include fund-raising campaigns, grant proposal writing, special fund-raising events and cultivation of major donors. Also educates and informs the public regarding the mission and purpose of the affiliate.
Seeks to strengthen the support of the affiliate’s work by gaining volunteers, prayer and financial resources from all community churches. Is a liaison between the affiliate and the faith community by facilitating communication and developing partnerships.
Plans and implements the construction projects of the affiliate. Develops and/or obtains house plans, solicits appropriate professional construction help, develops lists of needed building materials and assists in obtaining these, develops a building schedule, coordinates volunteers and supervises construction.
Targets the areas of the community in which the projects of the affiliate shall be developed. Investigates and researches the availability of property and recommends the property to the board of directors for acquisition.
